Over the past few years, Iโ€™ve thought a lot about the habit of gratitudeโ€“ giving it more weight than just the occasional passing reflection.

Living a life where gratitude is at the core means focusing on the positives, using challenges as opportunities for growth, and giving thanks to othersโ€“ similar to what many of the ancient stoics believed.

When gratitude is an active part of a daily routine, it shifts your mindset from self-focused and expecting to others-focused and appreciating. It breaks the cycle of taking things for granted and replaces it with a habit of seeing abundance, even in the smallest moments.

True gratitude goes beyond fleeting acknowledgmentsโ€”it becomes a way of life that fosters resilience, deepens relationships, and brings clarity to what truly matters.

Below is a list of 101 ordinary things to be grateful for. Many of them are likely aspects of your own life, but perhaps overlooked and underappreciated. Take some time to reflect on them and consider how you can make gratitude a more significant part of your own daily routine.

  1. Clean water to drink- Having clean water at your fingertips is a privilege many take for granted, with nearly 30% of our worldโ€™s population lacking this essential benefit. I try to pause and appreciate the ease of turning on the tap and having access to lifeโ€™s most basic necessity that is so readily available.ย
  1. A cozy bed– Few things feel as comforting as sinking into a soft, warm bed at the end of a long day. Itโ€™s a daily reminder of the joy in having a safe place to rest and recharge for another day.ย

  1. A roof over your head- Having a safe and secure place to call home is something I try not to take for grantedโ€“ especially since nearly 20% of the worldโ€™s population lives in inadequate housing. Itโ€™s the foundation for so much of lifeโ€™s stability and one of our essential needs.ย

Whether big or small, they form the backbone of our familyโ€™s identity, weaving a sense of togetherness that we hope will create a lifetime of cherished memories.
  1. Personal growth- Growing as a person often happens in small, surprising waysโ€“ sometimes we donโ€™t even realize how much until we take a step back and reflect.
